Sat outside and asked for the waiter to take our order at least 3 times. He never came. The table was still not cleaned up after 30 minutes. We decided to just leave and have our coffee somewhere else. I get it that its an historical place and that people will always come for what it represents and the history... More

Grand hot chocolate (can't rem the exact name) from the menu is the best I ever had so far. Wonderful place for a coffee after a tiring day of city tour.

You get what you expect from this historical literature café. Their hot chocolate is really amazing. But what was surprising the kind waiter who made a perfect impression during our stay. We recommend the venue to anyone.

Came over with friends to enjoy their famous hot chocolate but a mouse in the middle of the room marred all our pleasure!!! When you're paying about 9€ for a hot drink, there are some hygienic measures needed to be taken. Sorry, but mice are romantic only when you're watching Ratatouille and it wasn't the case. BERK!!!

This was my fourth visit to this popular cafe. A little expensive but quite the experience. The history is very interesting, with many famous writers, artists and actors visiting this cafe over the past centuries. My first visit a few years ago now, co-incided with Paris fashion week and Donna Karan was at one of the tables. Having now sat... More

Just so you know, I'm not usually the person who hits the 'tourist' spots because I really am not fond of most tourists. Especially in Paris. Which explains my presence here in February and not June. I want to experience places around the world like a local. But until a Parisian points out a better cup of hot chocolate, you... More

This cafe remains a Parisian institution. Over priced? Sure. Touristy? Sure. Cramped outdoor seating? Yep. But who cares. If you are a visitor to Paris take an hour or two out of your busy day to sip wine and people watch in the stylish St. Germain de Prés neighborhood. This is the place to do it. The service is quite... More

So we googled best hot chocolate in pairs then we took 2 metros and we couldn't have been happier. Thick, gloriously creamy and not too much! Honestly we have been raving about it to anyone who will listen! Pure bliss

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
