We tried three times to go here with our Paris Pass but the english tours were sold out and ridiculously you had to be there an hour early to get into a tour. The third time we came, we just purchased full price tickets and toured ourselves and it was worth it. I was mesmerized by this place. I was... More

My wife and I met singing in the Edmonton Opera Chorus, and were obviously drawn to this place. A friend recommended we not bother with Versailles and come here instead. Now that I`ve been to both I understand why she said it. Though much (much!) smaller than Versailles, I was more impressed by it - all the stone work, the... More

I had to here because my girlfriend had seen the film. She was disappointed to find out that she should have gone to Pinewood Studios because it was all filmed there. Nevertheless it's easy to spend a relaxing hour wandering around and gawping at all the shiny stuff and mirrors. We didn't see no phantom though. Worth a visit and... More

So glad we were able to visit Opera Garnier. It's beautiful and won't take a lot of your time. It's not included in the Museum Pass but worth the ticket price. Don't forget to stop by Box nr 5 - The Phantom of the Opera. They offer tours inside but if you have a good guide book/app it's sufficient. Combine... More

Very impressive staircase, interior and salon. Entrance is to the back of the building. Easy walk from the metro.

We booked a tour of the opera house through Viator, and the tour was titled "Treasures of the Opera Garnier Tour in Paris". Our guide was Melissa, and she was excellent. She must have majored in history, or architecture, because she was a wealth of information and encouraged questions. Her English was also excellent. The opera house is like a... More

Lovely venue. We booked general admission tickets online and purchased the audio guide upon arrival for 5 euros. Recommend doing that. Make sure to check online before going whether it's open - no admittance on days when there are performances.

We went to see the ballet, the show was good though I wouldn't say world class. Excellent orchestra, and a stunning venue. Worth going in just to see the place.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
