If you don't have time for Versailles, this is even better, and right in the city. We booked the guided tour, which is very much worth it. If you have time before or after the tour, you can walk to the Galleries Lafayette, go to...More

We rented head sets for self guided tour. This is a must see place. It was nicer than many palaces! Magnificent.

Such a beautiful opera house, you get dizzy from looking up to observe the detailed paintings and ornaments and mosaiques and chadeliers. We took the 90 mins guided french tour for 11EUR (reduced price for students) the tour guide was fun but if you get...More

Toured the building -- did not see a performance. This extraordinary and ornate piece of architecture is well worth a visit. Every surface has some intricate decoration, and at the same time you can marvel at the relatively modern engineering of the metal-supported structure. The...More

On this trip to Paris we had decided to do some of the things we had never done on other trips, and a night at the Opera was one of them. We decided to attend Cosi Fan Tutte at Palais Garnier, built in 1875, to...More

The building is pretty, but it doesn't seem to be worth the cost. Walked around it in far less than an hour. Quick walk from the Louvre. Glad we went, but not a must.

We stayed right by the opera house so did the tour. Really surprised how much we enjoyed it. English tours very easy to find. So Grand inside!

If you can book opera tickets way in advance, try to find tickets to any opera at Garnier (the old opera venue). What an unbelievable setting!! We heard Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutti and, although a very co temporary staging, we enjoyed it immensely. The ceiling...More

My family wanted to go on this tour because of our love for "The Phantom of the Opera". But I underestimated how much French history we would learn as well. Our guide, Rita, was just fabulous! She is an entertainer as much she is a...More

Try to catch a performance in this incredible place. Loved the Chagall on the ceiling, the gold leafing and the incredible frescos and wood work.

Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle
époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades,
and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here,
modern day workers continue to take advantage of the
legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th
century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and
cinemas sit side by side with French bistros
predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in

Hello Anne it is not mandatory to be very formal but a more elegant outfit is expected from the visitors. It is an event or a special occasion when people go to opera garnier. You don't have to be like at the red carpet just... More

We went there towards the end of July and it was fine. We did not have to queue to get in, and although there were obviously quite a lot of tourists, it did not feel overcrowded. It was a very enjoyable visit.

If you go on the Palais Garnier website, you can purchase your tickets for either the self-guided tour or the guided tour. I took the guided tour in English and I personally feel like it's better as you learn all about the... More
