Yes, this is yet another beautiful church in Europe, but it was so crowded--trying to get there, outside the church and standing in line to get in--that it made me want to just get away. The much touted view is just a big view of...More

We like older churches, this one was too new for us. But the location and the view is marvelous. The queue was short and we would do it again.

Yes, it is full of tourists. But Montmartre doesn’t disappoint. It is still a marvel to explore. Whether you stay on the white steps that lead to it, visit the Basilique or decide to have your portrait painted, it is still what you would expect.

My number 1 tip is go early before the masses start arriving by bus etc. Catch an Uber to save your legs on the Montmarte hills if staying locally (which I recommend) We went to the local art square Place Du Tertre for breakfast at...More

this is a gorgeous Basilique, however we did the tourist mistake of wanting to climb from the bottom of the hill, which is full of hustlers and at one point we felt a bit harassed by them. that aside it is a nice place to...More

The architecture is splendid, obviously, but the experience was marred by the vending machines everywhere inside. Are they necessary in a place of worship? Can't candles and souvenir coins be bought in a less 'in your face' manner? Visitors were disrespectful, too. There are signs...More

Lots od stairs to get there but it is really worth the effort. Free to get in. Have to go through security but they are very accommodating. Very calm inside evn with the vast number of tourists in the place.

Worth climb up, but only because it wasn’t a hot day. View of city from top is nice. Church itself shows wear and tear of church in large city with smog.

I enjoyed the walk from the train station all the way through the multiple flight of steps and getting a landscape view of Paris from the top of the hill by the Sacre-Couer. Like any attraction, plenty of tourists, I did appreciate that this was...More

After you’ve walked up a million steps, consider exploring this square of artists and outdoor restaurants at the top of the hill. If you’re not interested in yet one more Cathedral, go around the side of the monastery to catch a short train ride for...More

Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and
styles which changes from one street to another. Ride
the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the
steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the
Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The
church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano
bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers
thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy

It is free to get in. Six euros to go up the tower. If you wish to light a candle the suggested amount is three euros.
