Firstly you need to be a blues/jazz fan, be patient and not suffer from claustrophobia. And understand that the drink prices make up for no cover charge. Things kick off about 10 downstairs. It is crowded but there is a turnover of customers so catch the eye of the drinks waitress and she will generally find you somewhere to sit... More

Came hive to listen to jazz. We showed up around 10:30 - the downstairs was packed to the point that you couldn't see the band. We went into side room to listen and grab a beer which turned out to be 11 eur. Music was OK, but not original - well sung 70's hits. Not worth it

I go here every trip to Paris. The venue down in the cave is always crowded, but the music's great. Unfortunately, the portable guillotine is gone.

A friend recommended this place for a night out of music and I wasn't disappointed. It looked a little dodgy from the outside looking in but don't let that stop you from stepping in and heading down a floor to enjoy the music! It was a treat that I won't forget anytime soon!

Visited as a couple and this was a gem of a place. Cavern downstairs opened at 10 and we were treated to top class Jazz experience - crowded place but not uncomfortably so. Well worth a visit...

We visited twice during our long weekend, and both evenings were excellent. Saturday was fairly traditional jazz and Sunday was more rock/jam sessions. We've not had such late nights in a long time! Free entry and slightly above average price for (good quality) beer and wine. Definitely recommend.

There are several really wonderful caveaux (caves or cellars) for live music in Paris and it makes a great Parisian style night out to visit these. I always visit my favourite, Autour de Midi, in Montmartre but this time also went to a great blues night at Le Caveau des Oubliettes in the Latin Quarter. Both venues are really underground... Heard about this place so checked it out on a Friday night. A real dive bar vibe on the ground level but later on the back doors open up to reveal the live music cellar with a full bar. I think it is usually free entry but they expect a one drink minimum per person. It gets hot down there... More

Visited on a Sunday night having read reviews in a few articles. Really busy but people made room and invited us over to sit. Fantastic blues musicians and great atmosphere. We'll be back.

I had a nice experience the with my wife. The band was top quality and the service also very good. They could have a better equipment and a cleaner toilet, but its a nice place anyway.

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighbourhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighbourhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
