I saw Notre Dame with my husband who had studied it in college. It was lovely to see it through the eyes of someone who only knew it through books. The work that it took and the craftsmanship that it took to build it not to mention the time is incredible.

This attraction is extremely popular but be patient and enjoy it. Once inside the visit is amazing. Watch your possessions for pickpockets while waiting in line outside.

We were a group of five and booked this tour through Viator. They confirmed the booking for 3.00 pm in the afternoon, then asked a few days later if we could change it for the morning and we obliged. Then a couple of days later they requested that we change it to another day, which we were unable to do... More

When you go to Paris, you have to visit the Notre dame Cathedral from outside & inside. Adjacent to the cathedral you will see the 2 towers which have amazing architecture & statues.

It's a long climb but worth it for the fabulous view of Paris and a close look at the gargoyles. We opted to take a tour & skip the long line. The stairs & passages are narrow so make sure everyone in your group is physical fit and small enough to fit. At the first level you have the opportunity... More

We signed up for the Viator "Skip the line Notre Dame Cathedral, Tower and Ile de la Cite Half-Day Walking Tour". The tour NOT what was represented. This was a total "bait and switch". The main reason we picked this tour was to be able to "fast track" up to the tower. This tour did not include the tower! We... More

Gorgeous place to visit which is free unless you want to explore the turrets (10 euros). Beautiful stained glass windows and gothic architecture. Fantastic

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
