Beautiful theatre with great rooftop views

Beautiful old-school theatre in the heart of Paris. Some seats may be blocked by the columns so pay close attention when booking. Also, the higher you get, the closer the seats... read more

As part of our annual Parisian pilgrimage we booked to see 42nd Street at the TdC and wow, were we impressed! A highest quality west-end musical theatre production, performed in English by a hugely talented British cast is always sold out and with good reason. Tap dancing par excellence, great singing to timeless tunes accompanied by a wonderful orchestra made... More

A great building from the outside but nothing to compare with the inside which was really in need of a complete renovation !!!! And this will luckily start in the next few days :-)) Shows are always GREAT and the Châtelet will certainly become a must to go... In two years.

Beautiful old-school theatre in the heart of Paris. Some seats may be blocked by the columns so pay close attention when booking. Also, the higher you get, the closer the seats are to one another and to the row in front, but you in such a lovely place, you really don't care that your knees are hitting the seat in... More

Went to she my friend starring in 42th street in this grand theatre in the heart of beautiful Paris. The musical numbers were breathtaking. The building was lovely, decorated with gold and a wonderful chandelier and the staff very pleasant

This is a nice large grand theatre which is easy to get around. I booked online and collected my tickets at the theatre (though I originally went to the wrong side of the hall). The view was okay from the side of the balcony, though I wish I had sat more centrally, though. Sound was good, and the stage was... More

I go there once or twice a year to see the musicals. They are from foreing companies (american, argentinian, etc.. depending on the play), it's in original version with subtitles. Every time, the actors play and sing very well, the dancing is fabulous, the dressings and settings are marvelous... you travel instantly. Not to mention the theatre in itself is... More

And they do a lot of American/British musicals ! I went to see Sunday in the Park with George (Stephen Sondheim) and it was just great (and Stephen Sondheim was in the audience).

We attended the performance of the NYCB. Excellent dance in an exceptional venue. We were a bit late and only got tickets for the top balcony. They have reduced visibility, but once the lights were dimmed many people moved around to the leftover seats and we got acceptable line of sight. Afterwards a stroll along the Seine. Unforgettable.

Beautiful decorations and more comfortable seats than many other theaters. Good viewing from most angles. Historic foyer with great views over the river and Notre Dame.

We recently saw Carmen la Cubana at the Chatelet, which is a version of Carmen sung in Spanish and set in Havana which includes cuban singers, actors and dancers. Wow. What a crowd- pleaser. We have also seen other great shows at this venue in previous visits to Paris. The facility itself a lovely theatre. Seats are spaced a bit... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
