This hall is unique. The whole etablissement is unique in its conception! Named after the famous piano-maker and composer Ignaz Pleyel, with the store in front of the hall and the lovely bar at Royal Monceau - it was so nice to walk a short distance after a nice drink and the concert hall! Now, the piano maker Pleyel stopped... More

The great Salle Pleyel has fallen victim to French Politics in being denied any more orchestral concerts now that the new Philharmonie has opened. A sure sign that those in control are afraid that the location of the new venue could mean it becoming somewhat of a white elephant they have controversially banned any more classical music at this Parisian... We saw the Paris Orchestra here with guest soloist Maxim Vengerov. Great venue, rather intimate. Nice being at a concert broadcast live on Radio Classique which is our regular classical station. Easy purchase, easy to get to, and nice small auditorium. Good experience all-around.

Salle Pleyel is one of those places in Paris that you might miss unless you are an avid concert goer. The best orchestras and performers from around the world can be seen and heard here for a modest price. Buy your tickets from classictic.com on-line, print out the email and take it to the box office. Simple! You can even... More

Next to the concert hall was a music store where Igor Stravinsky lived and worked. There is another story about this concert hall, which includes Pablo Picasso and the birth of his daughter Paloma.

The Salle Pleyel was built in the 1920's and was more famous for bad acoustics than for it's roster of famous musicians. However all this was changed a few years ago when the hall was almost completely redesigned and the world renowned Artec Company were bought in to sort out the acoustics which they did successfully. I attended a concert... More

This is one of the best halls on the planet; appearance, acoustics, whatever your measure is; this should be on your list as one of the best. Maybe, the best. If you appreciate fine music and you can catch an acoustic performance here, classical or jazz, definitely go! Several years ago, there was a classical guitar concert there, no amplification;... When the designer of the original Salle Pleyel heard how bad its acoustics were, the story goes that he committed suicide. Since then the hall has been extensively remodeled at least 3 times, with a view of improving the acoustics. This was successful, but only up to a point. They are now acceptable, sort of. But definitely not as good... More

We went to the Joshua Redman Quartet on October 6th 2013. Metro Ternes in 5 min away. We had a great night and the accoustic was phenomenal. Only thing was the heat. It was so extremely hot that by the end of the show I was soaked and completely dehydrated. I was hoping the show would end earlier just because... More
