Neighbourhood: Ile de la Cité / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.

This is a very short bridge that links Ile de la Cite to the Left Bank. On the Ile you are at the back of Notre Dame. Nice place for a short stroll and some views of the river.

There are great views from this little bridge, of the cathedral and of the lovely buildings on the Left Bank. There is usually a floating cafe here in the summer, a lovely place for a beverage with a view.

Pont de l'Archeveche is a narrow bridge crossing the Seine River. It is located at the far end of the island and behind Notre Dame Cathedral. You can have some really lovely views of the Cathedral from the bridge.

We walked across this small bridge. There really isn't anything about this bridge, although when you walk across it to the next bridge you get some great views of the River Seine where it splits to go around the island that houses the Notre Dame.

Spanning the seine is this stone bride, a good place to get a piccie of the back of Notre Dame, also known as lovers bridge with couples securing locks to the railings, this practice is frowned upon these days.

From the Memorial des Martyrs de la Deportation, we crossed the Pont de l'Archevêché (Bridge of Archbishopric) which is the narrowest road bridge in Paris. You can take a good photo shoot of the back of the Notre Dame Cathedral from here. We walked along the side the the Seine to the front of the Cathedral.

The bridge is 68 metres (223 ft) long. It is composed of three arches of stone measuring lengths of 15 metres (49 ft), 17 metres (56 ft), and 15 metres (49 ft). The bridge commonly seen in the background of the set on Highlander when the show was set in Paris. After the Pont des Arts was cleared of its display of padlocks in 2010, and similarly the Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor, lovers started to place their 'love padlocks' on this bridge. The original two bridges for this were footbridges, but this one, a bit narrower, is a road bridge.

This small bridge connects the Cite isle with the left bank. It's just behind the famous Notre Dame and adjacent to the deported Jews memorial.
It was a great spot to capture the back of the Cathedral, unfortunatelly not any more due to last year's devastating fire, so today it's rather a sad scene.

It’s very centrally located and as such, we used it to cross from Left Bank to the island a number of times, especially solve we tried to see the Deportation Memorial but it was too late the first tome, and closed the second time. We crossed this bridge to get to the loading platform for the fantastic Batobus.
