Neighbourhood: Ile de la Cité / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.

You will find this lovely housing development on the eastern tip of Ile de la Cite. Originally it had 3 sides, somewhat matching, but one was cut off during 19th Century urban renewal. The 2 sides that remain provided good housing for the upper classes and continue to attract people of means. Quiet and peaceful.

I finished up Rick Steve's audio tour of Paris in this very delightful square. Very picturesque and relaxing. Feels incongruous in the centre of Paris.

I looked forward to seeing this historic square, another of Henry IV’s legacies. It is charming and quaint and I’m glad I got a chance to spend a few minutes in this lovely spot.

One of the prettiest square's in Paris has to be Place Dauphine ,a really good looking public square ( triangle ) to the west of the beautiful Île De La Cité .
Laid out in 1607 ,one of several public squares planned under the reign of Henry IV and named in honour of his son Dauphine Of France ( Louis XIII ) .
My twin brother walked off Pont Neuf passing the equestrian statue of Henry IV onto the square ,we dropped into La Rose De France and enjoyed beers sat outside that cafe bar taking in the great views of the square afforded from the outside seating of the La Rose De France ,loved it,it's most definitely a square to check out if you're planning a holiday to Paris or thinking of visiting Île De La Cité .

An attractive public square (well a triangle actually) The Place Dauphine was laid out in 1607–10, when the Place Royale was still under construction. It is located near the western end of the Île de la Cité and was among the earliest city-planning projects of Henry IV. An attractive and relaxing spot in Paris.

Very harmonious architecture from the 17th and 18th Centuries surround this small square on the Ile de la Cite. It's a triangle and the lovely buildings are on 2 sides. The third was destroyed in urban renewal during the 19th Century and replace with court buildings. Sit on one of the benches in the square and drink in the atmosphere. Charming and tranquil.

Sit for a while in this square and drink in the atmosphere. The harmony is a bit disturbed as one side was torn down in urban renewal, but what remains is so lovely that movie stars have chosen to live here. It's in the middle of town, yet quiet and peaceful.

This is one of the loveliest parts of town. I like to sit on a bench and admire the harmony of the architecture, well at least for 2 sides of the triangle. The third was marred by renewal during the 19th Century when the court buildings went up. But the rest was saved from a very early period of town planning Famous people have lived here. Place Dauphine is a public Square just off Pont Neuf. In fact this square is not square at all, but it is triangular in shape! Its name refers to the Dauphin of France and future Louis XIII, who was the young son of King Henry IV. Worth a stop if you are passing by this area.

I come here each time I am in Paris to sit on a bench in the center and admire the harmony of the urban design. On 2 sides of the triangle are lovely townhouses, most of a harmonious design. The third side was wiped out in 19th Century urban renewal, too bad. Still a lot of beauty is here and famous people have lived here. Simone Signoret?
