We took too long to get there and they were packing up at 1.00pm. I think it would be much better to go early in the morning

Markets open around 8 am and close around 2 PM but many sellers start to pack up around. I suggest you get their mid morning the Bastille is very large. Also less crowded Thursday .

I got curious about the word la botte and checked Wiktionary. The expression la botte have various meanings and one of them "a bundle (of flowers)".
