The area north of Notre Dame, left if you are looking at the front entrance, was once the site of the cloisters and outer cathedral precincts. Today the network of narrow medieval streets still exist with names like Rue des Chantres and Rue des Ursins....More

We really enjoyed walking along this area of the island. It is much quieter than the rest of Il Cite. Can get away from crowds and get a sense of years ago. Lovely area to visit.

Taking a step back in time in some big cities is difficult, but this section of this island you could almost forget where you are in the middle of one of the mega cities of Europe. A beautiful space of respite.
