The man (whom I will assume was the shop owner) was very kind, spoke English, and helped us pick out an authentic French absinthe. The shop was pretty small, but had a huge selection, and very suave atmosphere.

This was a specific destination of mine on my trip to Paris last summer. Even in Paris, there are few other places to purchase genuine high quality absinthe (vs. Pastis). Despite my arrival 15 minutes prior to closing, proprietor took the time to answer my questions, and permit me to make my selections (hard due to the kid in the... More

Great help and insights and was patient despite my poor French and arriving when about to shut. Wish I had spent more time

We made the trip to Paris with a view specifically to go here again! you can't get good absinthe in london, or probably outside of france.. the online shop did not work and the reported charming owner, equiped with good english according to reviews here!? did not respond to emails in english or my partners reasonable french! we found him... My husband and our daughter so enjoyed the absinthe ritual -- special spoon, sugar cubes and all -- at a Berlin bar one evening, that when he and I made our first visit to Paris last month, we decided to buy her some of the "green fairy". Internet research led us to Vert d'Absinthe. As reported elsewhere, there are many... More

My wife and I stopped in here to buy a couple bottles of absinthe. We have had absinthe in the USA, but we knew it would be different here and needed some help. Fortunately, the staff person spoke English and was very patient while answering our questions. He was also able to offer clear suggestions on what to buy. All... More

If you are looking for some quality Absinthe during your stay in Paris, this is the place to go. The collection they have is really amazing, plus the owner (which speaks perfect English) is really kind and has all the patience to chat with you, guide you and show you the best alternatives according to what you are looking and... This is about as much absinthe as you can get into a 10' x 15' space. The selection of absinthe was narrow, but a good variety representing different styles and locations where absinthe is made. In particular, see if they will let you try to sample some of the wine distilled variations more common to Bohemian Paris. Along with the... More

My boyfriend and I came here based on the reviews of tripadvisor and both being interested in buying some good quality absinthe. The shop keeper was very friendly with great English and advised us on all different types and flavours which would be best suited to us. Reasonably priced with great variety of flavours. Glad we visited!

This place was right by our hotel. Besides being fascinating to check out (and tell folks you went to an absinthe store), they have a great variety of absinthe spoons, which I found to be the perfect souvenir de Paris.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
