Tumbleweed is a thimble-sized shop in the Marais, near the place des Vosges. Since 1989, we've carried an orignal and ever-changing selection of quality toys, crafts and design.

At the moment, we've got handmade wooden toys and puzzles for children. Beautifully-balanced spinning tops for children or collectors. And a great selection of diabolical brain teasers for engineers and geeks!

For the kitchen, we have quirky English tea towels and "very French" French ones. Spatulas in the shape of Venus de Milo and a Picasso dancer!

And for babies: handpuppets in organic cotton, strawberry hats, and our ever-popular leather slippers in super-cool designs.

Welcome to Tumbleweed!

We had heard of this shop from a friend. it is very precious. We got a great puzzle for our daughter and a wooden puzzle in the shape of an elephant for our son. We also got beautiful handmade tops (the kind that spin!) and great cloth boxes with scenes of paris. Great place for gifts that are unique to... More

We went here after a stroll through the Marais in search for a unique puzzle to keep our eleven year old occupied during the flight back home, and we were not disappointed. Lots of little unique puzzles and brainteasers, artfully made. This is a great place for a curious kid or kid at heart to find a challenge. We will... More

Well, has she solved the puzzle yet? :-) The puzzle you bought is a 5+ on a scale of 1 to 5 (for adults!) so I imagine she's still working on it. Remember, you can always ask me for the solution... after 2 months! It was a pleasure meeting you in the shop. Thank you for the kind review and... More

We found the shop here on Tripadvisor by accident and we were really glad we did. We enjoyed all the fun and unique things it offers. You can buy gifts for your niece or your grandmother there. The shop has a fantastic vibe, we had a good laugh there. And we are still trying to solve/put togethere some puzzles we... More

We chanced upon this gift shop while walking in Le Marais neighborhood after viewing the marvelous galleries there. It's a tiny shop filled with original and unusual gifts for children and adults. Many of the items are made of wood. Creative and interesting gifts, a far cry from Toys r Us. If you're looking for something different there's a good... More

On our second day in Paris 9th January 2014, my husband needed to let his back recover so I took my 3 children ages 8, 11, 12 in search of Tumbleweed which we had discovered by internet in Australia. First, the walk itself was a treat as the Marais offers a particular peaceful view of Paris. Lynn welcomed us and... More

I have trip advisor to thank for alerting me to the existence of Tumbleweed, when I did some research prior to my trip to Paris. Well, if puzzles are what you're after, you've come to a very good little boutique. There is a good range of puzzles for all ages and abilities, and the wooden versions are high quality and really quite lovely. Since I can't figure mine out yet, I use it as a paperweight! I saw some very intricately in-laid puzzle boxes, too... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
