The Trianons is a pink marble structure with an open portico connecting two buildings favored by the queen. The tram runs to the front door from the grand canal but we walked on the picturesque promenade. Plan on about 60 minutes for the building and, weather permitting, 60 minutes for the beautiful gardens. The head through the portico toward the... More

It is quite a distance from the min Versailles Chateau. If you don't have a golf cart it is quite a walk. After the opulence of chateau the Trianons were a let down. But it is nice to walk around the hamlet and be transported to the bygone era.

My favorite was Marie Antoinette's Hamlet. This was something reminiscent of a fairly tale village or more currently a Hobbit village. Very cute. Also tour her home.

The small palaces were built as a refuge from the royal court for the queen and his misstress. It is worth seeing as they are on a smaller scale and seem more human somehow even though they are still quite opulent.

The Trianons and the Hamlet are some distance from the main Palace and must have afforded a respite from court life. The Trianons are like a mini-palace whereas I could easily imagine the Hamlet transporting Marie Antoinette back to her Austrian childhood. A visit to these two places is essential!

These additional buildings and gardens are within the gardens of Versailles. They are different from the grad scale of rest of Versailles. This are is beautiful and you should be seen. It is an extra cost. It is included in the museum pass😁 🌺We loved the museum pass!! It can be skipped, if you only have a half day at... More

Waiting for the guided tour in Versailles might be long, so this is one of the attraction to visit. The walk there can take around 25 minutes on way so we had to calculate to make sure that we didn't miss our tour.

We were glad to have allocated a full day to visit Versailles. The walk past the canal down to Petit Trianon was delightful after the crowded main palace. Petit Trianon is quite charming as are the gardens. Don't miss the small theatre in the grounds here. The hamlet is quite interesting although a little theatrical. We enjoyed this part of... More

This corner of the Versailles Palace Gardens is a little world of its own, none of the crowds and some lovely landscapes. You have to make the effort to wander away from the main gardens to find the Trianons, but these two small chateaux are well worth the effort. It is a shame the tour round the Petit Trianon sends... Definitely take the time to see the Trianons and The Hamlet while at Versailles. Both Grand and Petit Trianon are lovely and truly interesting to see. The Hamlet is picturesque and while a little hokey, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Make sure you check opening times in the off season!
