On a recent visit to Carcassonne we decided to spend the day in Narbonne and this is the most striking monument in the city but as others have said the entrance is rather tucked away. It is worth seeking out as although a lot of renovation work is still taking place it is still possible to see the beautiful craftsmanship... More

The cathedral was never completed as originally intended as the authorities realised that the city walls would have to be pulled down. But it is nevertheless well worth a visit, with a particularly beautiful organ. But the highlight is the Treasury. It is a large room with a huge vaulted ceiling. You stand in one corner of the room and... More

The cathedral is currently under renovation so you only get a chance to appreciate half of its magnificence. This is a symbol of the city and an impressive monument so whether you're into visiting religious sites or not, this is a major attraction of Narbonne. Built in the XIIIth c., the Cathedral St-Just & St-Pasteur is of gothic style. Its... More

Only the choir was built and hence looks rather odd inside. We probably didn;t see it at it's best as their was a lot of renovation going on and hence scaffolding. It's in a good location however with a musuem and art gallery close by as well as the Bishop's palace so well worth a visit to see them all... More

We were in Toulouse in last Christmas and visited Narbounne after seeing Carcassion. We reached Carcassion on our Day 4 by train. We took 08-15am train and reached at Carcassion station at 9-25am. It was 70 mins journey from Toulouse Matabieu rail station and the fare was about £10 per head. After Medieval city visit, we came back to the... More

The Cathedral Saint Just towers above the centre of Narbonne -- it can be seen both from the motorway or the peripheral roads coming into town. As it's dead-centre of the pedestrian section, but the entrance hidden by the surrounding small roads and cafés, the sheer scale is a surprise when you actually get inside it!

Visited with relatives. The sheer scale of the interior is enough to take your breath away. The building is particularly spectacular and the architecture superb.

Went for a morning out in NARBONNE to visit the cathedral. At the moment there is a lot of repair work to the stone and some scaffolding so you can't see some of the inside but this does not take away from the beauty. The inside is stunning. There are plenty of places to eat around the outside but we... More

If you like gothic cathedrals then this is amazing. So high and dramatic. Such a shame only the choir was built as a nave would have been awe inspiring.
