Beautifully displayed, three floors, all sorts of boat models and notices with bits of information about notable sailors etc. Am not personally facinated by most of the history and there are no displays geared for children so would recommend this to a boat and history aficionado.

If you programm to visit the Harbor Museum consider you will need at least an hour and a half Don't hesitate to buy a ticket for the 3 boats which are in front of the museum,in the harbor. This is really worthwhile and instructive. Be carefull uou can only visit in the morning the boat named LA GUILDE

From the reviews it would seem we one lucky ones who received audioguides, there were very good so try to get one. We did have to leave a driving licence in return though which is slightly odd. the temporary display is all about the port and the processing of bananas which was a very interesting start to our visit. It was... More

Isee from other reviews headsets were available to talk your through the exhibits - we were never offered the headsets! Nevertheless my limited French was improved but I would have got so much more out of this if I knew the headsets were available! A vast number of exhibits, history and information – very good. We didn’t visit the ships... More

Two interesting ships to visit after lunch. First the 3 masted sail training ship originally built for the German Navy and now renamed the Duchesse Anne. But the other is perhaps more interesting - the old Sandettie light vessel built after WW2 for the French lighthouse administration and one of 22 coastal stations reporting for the nightly Shipping Forecast on... This was one of the top recommended things to see in Dunkirk. If you like maritime things then this is for you. They have an extensive collection of large boat models, I assume all were hand made. When you enter the museum they give you headsets in whatever language you need and as you move from room to room you... More

A perfect overview of the maritime history of the city, through art, audiovisual, models, popular objects... All very tastefully gathered into this interesting building with a semi-industrial feel. The temporary exhibition on WW events in Dunkirk is very down to earth but also worth a 20-30 min detour.
