Situated near the British Military Cemetery of Bayeux, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy narrates the battles which took place in Normandy after the D-Day landings, between 7th June and 29th August 1944. The collections of military equipment, the diorama and the archival films allow the visitor to grasp the enormous effort made during this decisive battle in order to restore peace in Europe.

Ok. But lots of similar museums locally. Bit samey - okay, but better d-day exhibitions elsewhere (memorial museum at Caen or the Bunker at ouistreham - by ferry port, ie sword beach).

There is a good collection of military vehicles and tanks here, which pleased my 12 & 8 yr old sons, and their Dad. The museum is housed in a pleasant building, right next to a War cemetery, on the edge of Bayeux town. It is...More

There are more D-Day museums in this part of France than you can wave a tricolour at. Entrance to this one came as part of the ticket to see the tapestry in Bayeux (albeit at marginal extra cost). Full of artefacts and story-boards it's a...More

This place is in need of some investment. The place felt very tired and needs some attention. Not great but okay for killing an hour!

Wow! Always wanted to visit and so glad I did, but I found it to be emotionally exhausting. If you take in all the content, you come away feeling inspired and in aw9 of the whole undertaking. Not to be missed.

Close to the beaches which allowed you to reimagine the narritive that accompanied the museum exhibits The exhibits were well laid out making it easy follow the action as it played out on D-day and the few days that followed.
