Situated near the British Military Cemetery of Bayeux, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy narrates the battles which took place in Normandy after the D-Day landings, between 7th June and 29th August 1944. The collections of military equipment, the diorama and the archival films allow the visitor to grasp the enormous effort made during this decisive battle in order to restore peace in Europe.

Movies, stories, diaries, original military equipment that was actually used in the invasion by allies and the Nazi army. I checked time needed as 2-3 hours but in fact you could spend 4-5 hours.

Highly reccomened, lots of displays and information but not overwelming. Some great stories of those who fought in the battles and really brings it to life.

Normandy has many WWII museums and this one located 5-10mins walk from the centre of Bayeux was quite good, with quite a number of vehicles and a theatre displaying a movie about the invasion in both English and French.

Up-to-date museum with an informative film - spend about an 1.5 hour in here to get into the mood to then go out to the landing beaches.

We visited on a Sunday and were delighted to find that museums are free to visit on Sundays. The museum is well laid out and all the exhibits are displayed in English and French. We thought we knew about this aspect of the war but...More

We visited this museum as part of a triple attraction tickets. I feel it gave a balanced view of the conflict rather than only the allies point of view. The exhibits are varied and well laid out. Some of the descriptions are not current as...More

Even though I'm not a WWII enthusiast, the museum is incredible with many artifacts from the war, including armory, suits, documents and more. There is even a short film about the war worth watching if you have the time.

One of the best if not the best museums that we visited here. Lays out the whole battle of Normandy extremely well. Only minor complaint would be that not all the descriptions are in English but most of the time I could figure it out....More

We took a tour of the D Day beaches the day before, which was incredible. The interesting thing about this museum is that there is really little about D Day and a lot more about the entire battle of Normandy. There is a LOT of...More

The museum is about 15 minutes walk from the centre of town. If you've got a smartphone, the town (Bayeux)has a free wi-fi connection so you'll be able to use your Google maps to find. Easy as pie. Sorry for not getting back... More
