Rare church design

Worth a visit for its wholly wodden, Normandy style. It feels like travelling in time, while the church keeps an unusually welcoming atmosphere.

This church was built in the middle of the 15th century and is considered to be one of the oldest churches in France. It is predominantly made of wood and once on the inside, it gives the appearance of a market under an overturned boat. Honfleur is after all a fishing town, situated at the estuary of the Seine river... More

Saint Catherine's is right in the middle of Honfleur, walking distance to everything. It looks like a Viking ship, very unique architecture.

Sainte Catherine is a very old church with a superb wooden ceiling and a very particular architecture. It's a must see in Honfleur. You really feel blessed when in there.

The most beautiful brightly naturally lit and extraordinary structure with many fascinating features was the highlight of our brief visit to the ancient town.

The fact that it's all wood makes it very unique and it's huge. Not fancy or gothic or romanesque, just plain jane, upside down boat like. Loved it for it's simplicity.

I love visiting churches when I travel and this one is very original with its reversed boat bottom. It is a must see in Honfleur

As you pass through Honfleur, an adorable fishing town on the Normandy Coast, drop by the very old St. Catherine’s Church which is unique because it is made out of wood rather than the more traditional stone. In fact, this mid-1400’s-built structure replaced a stone church built during France’s Hundred Year War. The interior ceiling is particularly interesting because it... More

Well worth a visit to this very interesting church. Souvenirs and pictures inside of when the church was built.

This is a very quaint church located not far from the harbour in Honfleur. The church is quite small but beautiful. It gives you an insight into the people of the region and their seafaring history. It is worth a visit.
