Worth a visit
Jul 2019 • Couples
Totally fascinated with this place and made even more enjoyable with a very helpful young Sarah in the office du tourism who gave us an English folder version of the guide as it was only spoken in french. This proved to be a great help and also the tour guide did her best to answer everything we asked about. The other french people on our tour did join in with discussing things in franglais and it made me remember more of my forgotten French. I can see how IKEA have used 1950’s styles in their designs and how innovative and forward thinking the designers of that era were. Definitely recommend this as a must see in Le Havre.

Loved the appointment but shame about the info

My first visit to La Havre and we were very impressed with the heritage site and the city in general.
I was particularly keen to see the apartment and, although I enjoyed the visit, I would have enjoyed it even more- in fact as much as the others with me who could speak French and therefore understand the guide as she had a lot to say which, I’m sure, was really interesting.

We had a guided tour in French. Bit when you arrive early you vcan read the highlightsmof the tour in advance.
It is imterestimg to see the complete results of modern architecture in the houses of that period.
The furniture and kitchen ware was realy nice, you can get a great impression of the after 2d world war.
And it is a great value you only pay €5 for the tour. And the tour is only fot 19 people at a time. So book in advance.

Short but good visit for architecture lovers or not

Was really good to understand the concept, idea behind the architecture that Mr Perret created and experience the place back in time a little bit. Nice appartment that reflects the philosophy and spirit of managing space and light. Not sure visits in English are proposed, check it out.

something to be seen

this place is interesting as they reconstructed a flat of the fifties. this type of flat included some innovations such as indirect air ration of the bathing room. however, we give four points as tours are only available in French.

You'll have the feeling of what a flat in newly rebuilt "le havre" looked like : furniture, flat display quite innovative in the 50's

The Apartment

Delightful flat of the man who was responsible for the way in which Le Havre was re-built and laid out. The only problem was the tour available was only in French but that did not spoil the appreciation of the objects on show.
