Another gem on the Le Havre tourist trail (if you like plants and gardens & history & stuff like that) a couple of miles or so out of town centre. The gardens are set within imposing high-walled post-Napoleonic fort with panoramic sea views over Le...More

We walked all the way from La Havre port off our cruise ship to the gardens. The local map was slightly misleading, just follow the road signs. The hill before the main entrance is a very steep climb, so we ended up carrying the children...More

The botanical gardens of Le Havre, founded only in 2000, are formed within the old 19th century Vauban-style fort high above the city. There are great views of the city and docks and across the Seine estuary from the ramparts. The gardens are set out...More

Great fun with the children discovering the names of various roses in the 2010 rose garden. The green houses within the fort itself house a plethora of plants from countries tied to Le Havre port. Restaurant serves good wine and beer too.

Quite a beautiful place to visit, the greenhouse has a variety of plants from all over the world and the fours different corners of the fort display small gardens with different themes.

It's a pleasant quiet, walk round, and the shrubs are well labelled, but we were very disappointed in the general air of tiredness about the place.

Not really classic and very rich garden with a large variety of flowers, very large. Outside gardens and panoramic view on the city are to be seen and the whole place visited. Especially if the weather is nice and sunny.

Snapshots of gardens from all parts of the world, both outdoor and in the extensive glasshouses. Everything is well labelled and explained.
