This is a main commercial street. There are all kinds of different shops and restaurants. There are absolutely beautiful examples of Norman architecture. This is a historic area that has been well preserved. Great for window shopping!

Old part of Rouen is mostly (but not to all) traffic free. The old part of Rouen is fantastic. I thought half-timber framed houses were mainly English but the French have many towns with fine examples and Rouen have the best. Leave at least one day just to see Rouen if you are touring the area. There is much to... More

One of prettiest streets in Rouen, worthy to walk by when going to/from cathedral. And pay attention to the clock.

Lots of little shops along the way for shopping or browsing. The old "Nordic" architecture of the city is warm and welcoming.

Rouen is a beautiful french town to stroll around, particularly the old quarter with its timber houses and astronomical clock.

On a freezing february evening was not expecting to see such a lively city scene! Lovely old medieval buildings bending in to meet as you look up along this cobbled pedestrianised road, lined with both interesting and familiar shops to brouse and peruse - the arch and clock in the centre reminded me of Praque.

The main thoroughfare of the old town and many of the shops, bars and restaurants worth visiting are on this street or one of those that feeds into it. Atmospheric with interesting architecture well worth taking time to enjoy rather than just rushing along. We were in Rouen on a Sunday and it was closed so we spent a lot... More

If you have little time then this charming cobbled street lined with half-timbered shops selling everything from hand-made chocolates to antiques will have something for everyone. It is also the best route between the old and new Cathedrals. Bohemian and gothic.

We walked this street at a half dozen different times of the day. It is different each time because there are different people using Rue du Gros-Horloge. The sequence seems to be street cleaners in the early morning, then delivery trucks, then dog walkers, worker bees, shopkeepers, then ne'er do wells picking choice curb space before the tourists arrive. The... More
