Overview
More
The Castle of the Dukes of Brittany houses the Nantes History Museum, displaying more than 850 historic objects with multimedia installations in a contemporary layout. The former ducal palace also holds temporary exhibitions and cultural events all year round. Besides, the rampart walk offers a number of viewpoints of the fortress. The night-time illuminations further reveal the architectural complexity of the site. A restaurant and a gift shop are as well at your service.

Walk the walls for free and get some interesting sights of Nantes. The walls are relatively high but nice to walk around to get a different aspect of Nantes. Good views and not difficult. Descent can be via a slide off the walls to the...More

Great chateau with great history. Walk the ramparts for a visual guide as to how Nantes has transformed itself with diverting and redirecting the river - pity since Nantes was probably nicer with more water and less road

The castle itself is very picturesque and pretty. It has additions from different eras featuring different styles of architecture. The ramparts and exterior are free to enter. If it's a nice day and this is the part you're most interested in its a great free...More

Spent a brilliant afternoon at the Chateau with my 11 yo daughter in which we were given a guided tour and a workshop where she made a pop-up card of the chateau. Highly recommend this attraction.

This chateau is an imposing presence in the downtown area. We paid 8E for entry and another 2E for the audioguide. Interesting content especially France's part in the slave trade for about 350 years. I think we spent 4 hours in the museum but at...More

The castle is free to enter and handily has it's own tram stop. When you enter then you can walk around the courtyard and go along the ramparts. For those wanting a bit more history then there is a museum in one of the buildings...More

We subscribed the kids to an activity, which they really like. Please note we booked more than a month in advance - looks like it is quite popular. During that time (as parents were not allowed), we walked in the remparts and down to the...More
