Spent a good hour or more wondering round here, you do need a coat it's very cold in the caves. We bought tickets for here and for the mushroom place on a special offer. I think it was €14 each. The time and effort without any training is amazing well worth a look.

Combination Ticket available with the Mushroom Museum, but this time I skipped that and just revisited this attraction. Brilliant as ever, and the details in the exhibits just has to be seen to be appreciated, staff in the shop very friendly and chatty if you interact. Another brilliant Saumur attraction.

There are about two dozen sculptures of local churches and cityscapes. They are beautifully done and it's a nice walk. I am fairly well versed in French history, but didn't recognize half the town names let alone the buildings shown. So for me a bit overpriced for what I saw.

Get the combo ticket with the Musee du Champignon - both take you deep into tufa caves. You will be surprised and delighted with the extraordinary work of one man. His recreations of several Loire villages are a real treat to visit. Have a warm layer for the cold cave!

This place has to be truly unique anywhere in the world and for that reason alone it has to be worth a visit. It is utterly eccentric and even if churches carved out of rock aren't quite your thing you have to doth your cap to the skill and dedication of the sculptor. The visit itself didn't take long, but... More

Not knowing what was being exhibited the visit was rewarding. The skill of the stone masons in developing the sculptures, the skilful manner in which they are illuminated, makes this a worthwhile visit whilst on this side of the Loire.

If you have never visited this area of France before then I would recommend a visit here first. There is a map that shows you where the sculptures get there inspiration from. These are the places that are all well worth a visit on your travels in the area. Each sculpture also has a very brief history with it as... More
