So worthy when you see Cezanne's paintings!

A very informative tour with great potential for additional script with the possible expanding of this great story for the city of Aix. I loved to see similar sights that Cezanne... read more

We paid €6.00 at the Tourist Office to visit the Bastide thinking that we will get to see the ' atelier ' etc before it's big renovation next year. Unfortunately you only get to see 1 room. Then they show a short film of about 10 mins. If you have read about Cezanne already you don't learn more. Thanks to... More

We visited the home of Cezzane along with our Parisian friends. The tour guide was most knowledgable, bi-lingual and answered all our questions. The tour as well as video is well done. Purchase tickets at the Tourist Center.

When we arrived we got told "As you've booked online you won't know that the upper floors are being refurbished so we cannot see those... And we can only see the lower main room... which is unfurnished.. and i will be giving a 1 hour lecture followed by a 15minute video followed by a tour of the gardens". Obviously we... More

A very informative tour with great potential for additional script with the possible expanding of this great story for the city of Aix. I loved to see similar sights that Cezanne had in portraying his landscapes.

It's a bit of a pilgrimage to Cezanne's places and this is the house where he lived and even painted frescoes I all the living room walks. They must have been amazing. Alas, they are all gone! There is not a single painting in the house. The frescoes were sold to private collections by the new owner off the house... More

The family home of Cezanne's banker father. The stories of Cezanne's life say he fell out with his father once C tried and failed to become a banker and it is always assumed that they didn't get on but if you stand in front of the building and look up to the left you will see that Cezanne's father actually... Lovely evocative tour in English. Hard to get tickets and parking in very dodgy run down area but worth it if you love Cezanne. Not much there but our guide made it interesting and worthwhile. Shows the encroaching of the city on what used to be countryside. About to do more work so do not go in 2016.

This is a guided tour so be sure to book in advance at the Tourist Information Office. The guide takes you into what once was the family home of Paul Cézanne and you get a good look at one of the main rooms which was Cézanne's studio as well as exploring the surrounding gardens. The enthusiasm of the guide is... More

Along with, chocolates, Musee granet, the many shops and galleries, as well as, the markets in the centre of town, Aix also offers the visitor the unique experience of immersing themselves in the life and work of Paul Cezanne. There are three sites within easy reach and with public transport making this an easy exercise. There is his family home... More

The main salon where the docent gives her commentary is large and has poor acoustics. Coupled with a difficult accent and rapid delivery made this presentation very hard to understand. The docent really knew her stuff and was interesting but it was so, so hard to understand and hear. It would have been far better to just receive a paper... More
