Went in the morning at 9am. Busy vibrant area. Many stalls selling freshly made, baked, presented food.
Everything we needed for self catering available at good prices.
Clearly popular with local people.

A major attraction in Avignon. We took a taxi from our ship. The building is huge and the selection of seafood extensive. Also sausage, chocolates, herbs. Would have liked to eat a meal here. It is located in a pedestrian only area, which made getting a taxi back to the ship very difficult. Finally joe went to the police station, which was closed (due to the strike?) on the door was the phone number of a taxi company.

Don’t accept breakfast at your hotel. Don’t buy lunch at inferior restaurants. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to sample baguettes, croissants, cakes, cheeses, sausages, patées, fruit, chocolate in a quality that is almost unbelievable.

Avignon Les Halles is heaven for foodies!

There is a bar with tables in the middle of Les Halles. Buy your croissants at one of the baker shops and eat them here with a cup of coffee - or a glass of wine.

The food options here are amazing. It was a fun place to walk around, lots of choices to eat and fun to shop for later.

Chanced upon it early one morning so it was not a hub of activity. It looked rather polished. It was very clean. The range of goods was impressive. Like any similar market, it was colourful.

An indoor market with a good selection of different foods to purchase. Some of the vendors have space for you to sit and consume your purchases, otherwise you can take them away.

I arrived just after 12pm, and it was pretty quiet by then. I would definitely like to go back earlier in the morning, when I can imagine it would be extremely busy and full of life.

A lot of vendors, each with a specialty. Coffee and then another for Padgett and a third and fourth for cheese and ham for a picnic. The food hall is covered in vines and plants situated on a lovely square. Though quiet when we visited I’m sure it is bustling during the day.

A beautiful selection of fish in the corner comes with a little restaurant in the corner that serves great fruit de mere. The oysters there are super fresh, the wine is good and fast service. Everything closes at 2.

Les Halles is an interesting g area that is dominated by a huge car park. Also a market and currently under reconstruction so a nightmare to drive around.
