Facing the sea, the exotic botanical garden has a subtropical microclimate unique in France. The temperature annual average 17°C. Experiment garden, greenhouse with rare plants, it houses beautiful collections of palm trees, bamboos, citrus-fruit, edible tropical plants, that is all together over 1400 species. Thanks to its path with hundred year old palm trees, its pond with lotuses, water hyacinths, giant water lilies from Amazonia and its atmosphere of dry forest and jungle, this garden evokes memories of trips to the Tropics.

This was our second visit after a gap of 10 years and the site has continued to develop. There is a huge range of plants and trees with virtually everything named. The only drawback is that it shuts at lunchtime so a middle of the day visit isn't really practical. Also, although there are 21 "locations" to visit, finding your... More

We visited this garden the day after we had been to the Hanbury Gardens just over the border in Italy. What a contrast between two botanical gardens. Though smaller the Val Rahmeh gardens are well stocked and looked after with a variety of vistas and there were little spots to sit and enjoy the plants and the calm. The Easter... More

I love gardens and was not disappointed. You have to visit for the morning or the afternoon as it closes from 12.30 till 2 each day. 2 hours is enough for a visit. Entrance fee is about 8 Euro each. Follow the numbers to see the whole gardens. Two exhibitions in French only. But ok to look at the pictures.

We walked to these gardens along the sea front where there is lots of work going on at the moment and were not disappointed once we started looking around the grounds. The entrance fee was reasonable (6/7 euros each) and we spent a very pleasant couple of hours wandering around. We had previously visited the Serre De la Madone and... More

Nice peaceful garden with some interesting plants. Good view over the Med. Check opening times as it can close for lunch.

I expected this is a big botanical garden but it turned out that it is a small garden. It has many different types of plants but not many flowers, for that I was quite disappointed. However it has a very unique flower that came from Brazil called Aristolochia gigantea which I have not seen anywhere else. The main attraction of... More

Even on a dull day towards mid October this was a fantastic garden with loads of colour. There are so many parts to enjoy as you stroll through different areas. Our favourite was the terrace in front of the house where I could imagine sitting with a glass of wine and a book all evening. Well kept and a wide... More

We visited the Jardin Val Rahmeh this afternoon - a glorious October afternoon of sunshine, in which we were also glad to take advantage of the many shady spots here. The garden is beautifully maintained and carefully laid out. There is an easy path that winds around the terraces going between different areas of planting, all clearly labelled. At every... More

Finding the garden is easy if you go along the main coast road out of Menton until it is sign-posted to the left. Don't do what I did walking there via the old town, where I got lost! In spite of getting bitten by lots of tiny mosquitoes, I loved the exotic planting and variety of different areas, with lots... More

This place is beautiful. Gorgeous views. Definitely a must visit. Sadly the restaurant near by is now closed.
