Excellent visit

I would totally recommend this place for the fans of Louis de Funes gendarmerie movies . The museum has pictures , cars , props , dioramas , movie banners related to these movies . There is also a nice souvenir shop at the ground floor. I suppose the museum is actually hosted in the former gendarmerie building .

A lovely trip down memory lane
Aug 2019
Everybody loves Louis De Funès - his films are comedy classics, especially the "Gendarme" films. And that's the reason to visit this place. Lovely decorated and brought into the present, we have the chance to live through some of Cruchot & Gerber's adventures. Yes, there is Brigitte Bardot, Romy Schneider and Alain Delon, too. But we're here for our beloved Louis.

He's dead since 1983 and his films still keep him alive, especially on TV. To be able to come near him a bit, is both charming and touching. Therefore you take this trip down memory lane and enjoy indeed the memories.

The museum is not too extensive, but it gives you a lovely impression what happened here in the 60s. You wish Louis De Funès would be here himself, but of course he is not. The world is a different one than 1964. And the only way to go back in time is this museum and then watch a DVD. Douliou Douliou Saint Tropez!

This was a lot of fun. We don’t speak French and we had never heard of the Gendarmerie movies and it didn’t matter. Such a creative place and they do a marvelous job for helping non-speaking guests.

Surprising little museum
Oct 2018 • Couples
What a surprising little museum sitting in a former Gendarmerie. We could not understand in advance why any museum would commemorate two such disparate subjects.....now we know!! Le Gendarmerie is a set of 6 films probably in the same genre as British "Carry On" films some of which were filmed in that building. A temporary exhibition commemorate photographs of film stars who visited the area together with their pets. An interesting book of the photos is available.

If you visit Saint Tropez you can just visit museum but in my opinion no worth to visit Saint Tropez because of this museum.
Worth to know its not just groundfloor but then 1st and 2nd floor after that but not well indicated.
There are somo photos and gadgets&props from the movie. Nice cars but would be better lights to make nice picture inside.
It would be nice to have some uniform to wear to take a nice photo but its only cardboard pattern picture to put head inside (such uniforms was possible to dress in some museum in Tallin in Estonia).
So its not bad museum but have potential to improve ;-)
Price for adult 4€.
Nearest parking in port 200m distance (first half hour free than each 15min is 2€ charged progresively. I paid some 4€ for 1 hour).
I can not find parking free of charge.

Finally the famous Gendarmerie (Police Station) is open to the public, and it is worth the visit. Young visitors and even more their parents will see well displayed furnitures, equipment and memorabilia from the famous films. You can shoot selfies at Gendarme Cruchot's desk, and ride his car. The visit is short but of quality.

The place has changed so much, I could barely recognize it. Museum is nice especially if you watched the Gendarme series.

Génial ~ Really an immersion in French way of life
May 2018 • Family

This is a very little museum. As a small tip, I would recommend to see a movie or two from French actor Louis de Funès. You’ll see how tall the Mr. de Funès was in real life. Your kids can go and sit on a motor bike and also an old car call 2CV (really well known in France in the 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s). We came out we a big smile and it only cost us a few euros. Well worth the time. :-) Afterward, just walk around and you’ll see a small place to see playing « boule » and also nice villa like the one from Dior.
