We loved wandering about La Citadelle... no charge to do so... and it brings visions of ancient days to mind... a great place to daydream awhile. While we were here, we also came upon a semi-circle of the most beautiful blue-flowering trees on the Citadelle...More

visited many times, but always return as views over Villefranche and its harbours are wonderful. Musees always very interesting and varied, and this year there is a beautiful garden below the walls of the fort and an open air theatre.

The citadel itself is lovely to see but not worth going for on its own - I didn't go into the museum. The view out to sea, however, is stunning.

Strolling around Villfranche sur Mer, we walked into the fortress and found the wonderful Volti Museum. It is full of brilliant Sculptures cast in bronze and paintings, set in lovely old rooms and courtyards. I shall certainly look out for more work by this Artist.

Wandered in after arriving in Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Wasn't really interested in the museums inside, was hoping the fort itself would be a cool attraction, which it really wasn't. Not much to see other than the actual walls, which you can see from the town. Not a...More
