Hike up, it's worth it if you can. The cathedral is stunning and the views were amazing off each and every side. The crypt was ok not necessary to see. Go early on warm days and bring water if you're hiking.

A huge church that makes the visitor feel small and insignificant. A visit to this place is a must when touring Marseille.

Getting to the cathedral could be difficult but we caught the public bus No 60 that took us all the way up to the car park for less than 2 Euros. The views are stunning and you can see the region even beyond the city....More

Took the little train up to this one and the views were stunning, the church was good too, there was lots of armed soldiers guarding the areas too!

Perched on the highest point above Marseille is the magnificent Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde. The road up is so steep the Tour de France has raced here. The architecture is grand but the views over Marseille steal your attention!!

Worth the winding road uphill... the views of Marseille are incredible from there! We had rainy weather today and we still enjoyed the views. Can imagine that with sunny weather the views will be even better. Not to be missed!

We were taken to the Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde as part of a coach tour of the city. To access the basilica, the coach had to negotiate a steep, narrow winding roadway. Getting to the drop-off point was part of the thrill and...More

Sits very high above the city and visible from most places. A long but enjoyable walk up although there are various transport options (taxi, bus, tourist train). The view from the top is incredible on a clear day, across the city, across the sea and...More

We went up on the petit train from Vieux Port - the easy option and takes about 15-20 minutes. The building itself is pretty amazing, both inside and out. The views are amazing - the city, port and mountains. It was warm and windy when...More

You can take the bus 60 from the old port until the Terminus, which is right at the entrance of the church for 1,50 Euro.
