The castle looks rather splendid from the outside and is featured on many brochures and postcards. The main benefit from actually visiting the castle is to obtain a view of the town and the lake. This is quite a climb and perhaps not worth it...More

In such a beautiful city as Annecy, the Castle is not the most interesting thing. Normal buildings with normal collections. Any temporary exhibition can be much more interesting than the permanent collection. Apart from that, no place to see the lake from any of the...More

This is one of the symbols of Annecy. Actually this is the one that you see in most of the Annecy pictures.

It is well worth going up to the castle to have an amazing view of the city and the lake. But you will not find much information on the history: besides, it is only in French. It is interesting to walk around though. The castle...More

It's a bit of a climb but well worth the effort for the history, art displays and most of all the views, it is also cool inside on a hot day.

No greater disappointment on our trip. We expected to see an old Chateau and learn the history of it. Instead we experienced a Chinese Art exhibit and could not even read anything. Most tourist sights have signs in multiple languages, but here. I would say...More

It's a steep uphill walk on cobblestones, but I was able to do it and I'm 30 lbs overweight. I was huffing and puffing by the end. In contrast, I saw an 80-something petite frenchman jog up to his wife waiting under a tree while...More

The castle is a few minutes walk up a very steep hill. Inside the castle, there is a museum (all the information is in French only) and a small aquarium. There are lovely views of the lake and the city.
