An amazing experience that any good skier should consider. If you don't know much about backcountry skiing and don't have the necessary equipment - hire a local guide. They'll provide everything you need. Beautiful scenery, worth every penny.

Worth the trip to Chamonix alone, not a great ski area but trip up aguille du midi and views of vallee Blanche spectacular. Try it for a weekend.

See it while you can....Like most of the world's glaciers, it's receding pretty rapidly. Amazing views all the way down, snow is usually fantastic at the top, plenty of fresh lines (if you know where you're going/have a guide, as it can be dangerous), the...More

Unfortunately, the glacier is very dry; our descent in February was described by the various guides as being "more like conditions we expect in April".

If you have bought a combined attraction ticket, make a point to reach the Vallee Blanche before 3:30 PM. The ride to the top is equally breathtaking

We skiied down the glacier off-piste with Kailash Adventure (best guides in the area) and it was the best skiing of my life! Could've used more snow but the scenery more than made up for it. If your skiing aptitude is sufficient and you can...More

Did this run - with a ski guide - a while back. Just getting to the top of the Aguile du Midi is scary enough, but then being roped together to move along the narrow ice path, carrying your skis is not for the faint...More

We are trying to plan a 3 day ski trip to the Chamonix area over Christmas, a family of 4 adults, and wondered if you had any suggestions as to where to stay, which lift to be closest to, and which ski areas are better for middle range skiers/snowboarder? Thank you so much. It is rather overwhelming!

Les Houches is not in the central Chamonix area - the free bus service will get you to the central town of Chamonix itself and to the other ski areas - but if I had the choice I'd stay in Chamonix itself. Yes it will be more... More
