I loved Vieux Lyon - there are so many cute artisan shops and small museums and things to see. It's expensive to eat there but the ambience and experience is lovely.

Vieux Lyon is known to be the tourist zone because of the cultural and historical things that we can see in there. The streets are beautiful and we can see the cathedral Saint-Jean, an obligatory space to visit.

Quaint streets, shops and cafes near the flowing river - Old Lyon is pretty and picturesque. Try to venture away from the main streets for a more authentic experience.

From hunting for Traboules, to little shops and restaurants as well as religious sites, walking the cobbled stones streets of old Lyon is a nice way to spend a couple of hours in Lyon. Feel the passing of time and enjoyed the architecture.

I enjoyed walking around Vieux Lyon on a blue sky sunny Sunday - it was very busy in the afternoon as lots of people were enjoying a meal around 1430 today. Lots of restaurants and cafes and shops and other treasures to discover like old...More

We took a wonderful 2-hour guided walking tour of Vieux Lyon. This wasn't our first visit, but it was wonderful to get all the history and "tidbits" from our guide, that we didn't pick up when ambling around on our own a couple of years...More

This was the second time I was near Lyon in a month. The first time we didn't have time to go to Vieux Lyon, so it was the first place we headed for this time. It was great...Medieval all the way, narrow streets, lots of...More

Don't be frightened to visit the Taboules - everyone is very respectful and friendly. There are lots of great places to eat. Most enjoyable adventure.

Cobbled streets, old buildings, cathedrals, you can do the tour by foot within an hour easily. Perhaps if this is the first time visiting an old town in France is indeed very cool but nothing struck me as different or more interesting than the thousands...More

Yes, depending on the time of day it would be 15 minutes in a taxi. That would give you a couple of hours to wander around Vieux Lyon, and take the funicular to the Basilica. On a fine day, beautiful views from the top. Hope... More

Printed brochures are unreliable check with official info office they seem to know more than the bus drivers relocations and the day's schedule changes
We (2 adult couples in our late 50's) are in Lyon for up to a week arriving on Sun 2nd Oct. Are there many wine & food tastings at reasonable costs within the city please? Or would we be best to hire a car and travel some distance which would mean finding overnight accommodation?

Lyon is a gastronomic heaven - with great wine thrown in! There are enough good restaurants to keep you going for weeks, let alone a few days. And I found the cost very competitive- better than Paris for example, as there is... More
