I walked up to the Croix Rousse from Grands Terraux - it's steep but if you take it slow it's not that bad. It's a straight shot - not complicated walk - and there are lots of interesting shops and cafes along the way. The...More

Perched on the hill is Croix-Rousse, the former silk loom/jacquard loom capital of Lyon. The neighborhood is highly walkable and has a very friendly, open vibe. Great restaurants and boulangeries on every block. Don't forget a stop at the cat cafe.

We just stayed for 2 weeks in this neighborhood and are in love with the area. There are huge farmer's markets almost every other day on the main street at the top of the hill offering every fruit, vegetable, meat, and cheese you could want...More

I really enjoyed Croix-Rousse as I visited the neighborhood on a very sunny - but not warm - day. Wear sneakers if you want to see it properly as you will have to walk up and down.

I like to stroll up the hill on a Sunday morning & have a coffee (or a beer) in the square. There are some great views back over the city & a big food market (on Sunday) to buy lunch. For those less inclined to...More

Croix-Rousse is a happening part of town, filled with boutiques, specialty shops and artisans. There's an open-air market every second day, and in the early evening numerous pubs and cafés are buzzing; at many places you can sit out on the street to catch the...More

Highlights for us here included the Farmer's market (not as big as the Sunday one @ quai St. Antoine but still OK), and the viewpoints near Place Rouville. Great great views from there--bring your Nikon or your Canon for sure during late afternoon golden hour....More

I live in Croix-Rousse since 8 months and I think this is the best place in Lyon. So tipic, and so apart from the rest of the city at the same time. Difficult to be really appreciated during a short touristic visit of the city,...More

Take the C metro to the top of the hill and meander down through the pedestrian-only streets, stairways and secret traboules. It's a special part of Lyon with fantastic ambiance, fascinating silk-weaving history and great views of all of the city.
