Really pleasant area of the town - a daily market selling lots of local produce and crafts, many restaurants and cafes and attractive old buildings including the cathedral. Had a real buzz about it and busy with locals and tourists.

Not just another munsterplatz. This place speaks to you. Good energy. Even though it's 95 percent post war construction (except Munster) it's still cool

The Münsterplatz is well-known in Freiburg, also for its daily market (approx. 7am-1pm), and constitutes the heart of the old town. Many cafés and restaurants are located on the market square, yet expect some slightly over-priced menus. The Münstermarkt (grocery market) and its famous bbq red sausage is, in my view, totally over-hyped. Between authentic, real and tasty farmer´s products... More

Quite a bit of fun: every day is market day, with local vendors setting up their stalls every morning and taking them down every night. Offerings ranged from local meats to flowers, veggies, baked and canned goods.

The sight of the cathedral and the square, the sounds and smells of the daily Münster Market, and the cafés and restaurants around the square - it all adds up to a pretty wonderful experience, regardless of the time of year.

We went to the munsterplatz every day to do our shopping and to grab a bite to eat. It is right off the center of town and near the Cathedral. The sausage carts are a must visit - the Käse Wurst is to die for!! Make time to stroll through all the vendors. If you come more than one day... More

We walked through both at night, which was beautiful with the lights from the old buildings around the Muenster, and during the day. The last day we walked through there was a farmers market, which was nice to visit and purchase a few fresh things. It is worth a stop when visiting Freiburg.

Just one minute from the busy Bertoldsbrunnen and you are here. This is one of the most well preserved part of Freiburg, and the square is surrendered with many beautiful buildings. Most impressive in the Münster Cathedral, which can be seen from most of the town. During forenoon the square is filled with a market with regional things like food... More

Visit the square on market days, sample food at the different stalls, buy souvenirs like wood carvings and Cuckoo Clocks and drink a cold bear or a white wine "Schorle" in one of the many outdoor pubs. Very friendly.
