Very impressed with the botanical gardens and green houses but less than impressed with the ‘Zoo’ elements.
Really disappointing to see what looks like underinvested and outdated enclosures for the animals and birds at Wilhelma.
The Zoo experience left me disheartened and worried about the...More
A spontaneous visit to the Stuttgart zoo proved to be a total surprise. The botanical garden is a wonderous site with greenhouses for desert plants and tropical plants as well. The animals are also great to watch and there’s even an Aquarium. The sleeping tiger...More
We visited Wilhelma while on holiday in Stuttgart over the Christmas period. Although there are a fair amount of indoor animal exhibits there wasn’t a lot outdoors, understandably. Would be nice to visit during the summer months.
I am in love with that place. It’s very clean, old buidings are making amazing atmosphere, the animals looks happy and healthy. We were there in the morning, so it was not crowded. Food courts are really nice designed and food is good.
This was best day on our trip. Both kids and we liked it. Everything was really nice, besides that the restaurant was going under reconstruction, and by the time we got the the other restaurant they were already closing.
We are delighted with the beauty and cleanliness of the zoo. A lot of exotic animals in a beautiful setting. Particularly impressed by the botanical garden, part of the orchids is remarkable. The Zoo was an occasion decorated with Christmas and despite the winter period...More

Do not bring your dog! Dogs are strictly not allowed. That said the site is set up for dog owners, at the main entrance, there are dog kennels, which can be rented for a charge. I think this is a great service if you cannot leave your dog at home.
Until you are there you cannot appreciate just how close you actually get to the animals, you won't be able to control your dog on site. In the Amazon House for example the fruit bats, butterflies and birds are with you, I'm talking inches away, if not on you!
Have a great time, and leave the dog at home.
