The bridge is about a 15-minute walk from the castle. We took a bus from the parking lot down below, and it dropped us off right in front of the bridge. The bridge was in good condition as it has been recently refurbished. It really is THE BEST view of the castle. IF you can get a view. The only downside is the crowd. We went in June, so it might have been worse than in, say, February...but having to jostle for the view makes for a less than relaxing experience. Everyone wants their photos (including us, sorry), but I would have foresaken photos for a longer time enjoying the view in peace.

I do recommend taking the trail right next to the bridge. It goes right down to the base of the falls. It’s steps, not a gentle slope, but it was much less crowded and a lovely short nature walk.

Final thoughts: Don’t skip it. Go early in the morning and wait for the crowd to die down a little before you go on the bridge. It’s really a great view and not far from the village if you bus it.

This bridge has one of the best vantages of Neuschwanstein Castle.
The entrance is close to where the bus from the town drops you off. There was a line to go on the bridge to take your photos. It was about a 20 minute wait for us. There is a counter on the side to show how many people are currently on the bridge so you head on when it is below the number. It didn't look like there was anyone there to enforce it.
Ine you get on the bridge keep walking. There are fewer people when you get further away from the entrance so you get more breathing room as you take photos of the castle. You might also notice the waterfall on the other side of the bridge.
If you are up for it, keep going and walk to the other side of the bridge. There is a path that leads to another viewpoint for the castle. The trail is fairly easy to follow and it wasn't that far.
The bridge has great views of the castle on one side and the mountain on the other. It was winter when we went so it had a beautiful sprinkling of snow.

This is a charming 35-metre long bridge that crosses Pöllat gorge near Neuschwanstein Castle. From the bridge, visitors have a clear, remarkable viewing of the castle from an elevated position. The close is located around 15 minute walk from castle along a clearly marked pathway, making it very much worth spending the extra time in experience as part of castle visits.

Historically, King Maximilian II had a wooden footbridge constructed here in 1845. The original bridge was replaced with a filigree iron structure in 1866. It has been restored a handful of times over the year including in 1984, 2015 and 2021. The more regular upkeep in recent years likely has quite a bit to do with the heavy usage by tourists that stop by in great numbers these day as part of their Neuschwanstein Castle experience.

During our visit there was a very long queue of people waiting to enter the bridge, which was completely very crowded, mostly shoulder to shoulder with tourists upon much of the bridge.

Note: Many people stop walking and begin taking pictures shortly after accessing Marienbrucke when Neuschwanstein begins to come into view. Do yourself a favour and keep walking. The further you go onto the bridge, the better the vantage and view and the fewer people you have compete with for space. Near the end of the bridge, there were just a few people when we visited recently. Views were great from this location as well.

Very nice viewpoint over Neuschwannstein Castle and the gorge, but what an idiotic crowd. One is delivered with busloads at the same time. A line to get on the bridge and then struggle between the selfie sticks. It's too bad. Maybe if you go really early it'll be quieter.

The Marienbrücke, 90 meters above the Pöllatschlucht, is a popular photographic spot. It is the best place for a perfect photo of the fairytale castle and the surrounding area.
Always very crowded with masses of tourists, who want to take a great photo as a souvenir. It will take some time to get a good photo and some space on the bridge. Nevertheless, the bus trip there and the fight on the bridge are worth a short stop.
It offers an excellent photo motif - that´s it!

No time to enter the castle but took the bus to the bridge for the view of the castle. It was worth the trip, the castle was beautiful. Many visitors crowded the bridge but it can't be helped unless there is a staff to do crowd control. However, most visitors crowd at the entrance to the bridge , so for more comfortable viewing, move to the other end of the bridge.

Beautiful view of the castle. We went outside the main season and it was extremely busy. The bridge was full! It was a laugh to see all those people standing on the bridge. If you walk through the bridge you will end up on a walking path in the forest at the end. If you follow this up you will arrive at another and higher point where you can enjoy the view in peace. It was wonderfully quiet. Unfortunately, it is not accessible for people in wheelchairs or with mobility problems. There are many protruding roots, but that is of course what you get in a forest. It was beautiful!

Located above the castle this bridge offers a magnificent view of the castle. By taking the shuttle (3€/pers), really recommended to avoid a nice walk but a 20% rating for 30 minutes), you will only have about 100tain meters to travel. Impressive to watch this beautiful castle with its feet almost in the void. Possible but if you feel dizzy

There is an incredible view of Neuschwanstein from the bridge. The only disappointment is that the bridge gets over crowded. The key is to enjoy the bridge between the tour bus loads that are dropped off just below the bridge. Be patient, the majority of the visitors have to leave quickly to catch their group. Then you can enjoy some magical views

Can't say I blame them. The crowds are so low that this is probably the easiest time for repair but I was hugely disappointed. I had checked and did not see any warning or I would not have gone there on this trip. I did see on TA that it would be closed from Oct 7 - Nov 8 but we were there on Sept 30th and it was already closed.
