Sometimes you have to do the tourist thing, this is ONE! Where else can you put on a miner's jumpsuit and ride a train and a slide, into a 500 year old mine! Lots to learn on this tour and I will tell you, it makes...More

Came there half expecting a blatant tourist trap (it kinda is) but it is so worth it. The tour is informative and enjoyable. Also for someone that is unaccustomed to 30 degrees heat, the cosy 12 degree in the mines is a fantastic relief.

We attended a dinner in the mine on a Friday night. You start with light appetizers and Champagne at the restaurant near the entrance, then put on coveralls and ride the train into the mine. We split into 2 groups for the tour of the...More

We were not sure about this visit but as the weather that day was not too good, we said we would visit mines in afternoon after the Eagle's Nest visit. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Loved it! We were dressed up in boiler-suits...More

I was expecting more. It was informational and you had a train ride into the mountains. The guide seemed bored and would have rather been somewhere else but with us. It is rushed so you cannot read and see everything before you are hurried along....More

This was a lovely tour. There is ample parking space if you drive here. Once the purchase of your tickets is completed You wait for your turn. The time should be on your ticket and there is a screen which states the time and if...More

If you only have a few days in Salzburg, I would skip this attraction. It will take at least 4-5 hours including bus transportation. First impressions are always important and upon arrival, the bathrooms were dirty, the restaurant was only serving beer, ice cream and...More

We have been on several mine tours and this one was probably one of the best. Not only is the tour informative, with movies, audio, and 3D models that light up, but you see actual mine workings amongst the fun!!! Two wooden miners slides, loco...More

As the salt mines are in Germany, not in Austria, I think there is no public transportation there. Would recommend the alternative: a local travel agency (Panorama Tours for example).

How safe are the slides for my 79 year old parents?

Probably they will not go for it. They are pretty safe, as long as you can keep your legs up, but they have stairs for those who, for some reason, don't want to go on the slides. No worries, they will still enjoy the tour :)
