Simply breathtaking scenery, you can see into Salzburg on a clear day. The road on the ascent is something else. (Sit on the left side of the bus if you don't like heights!);) Top tips: Go early though it gets very busy!. Have currywurst and pommes on the outside edge of the restaurant seating area and watch the clouds below... More

To be honest, I didn't stay here that long, as I didn't have the cash to eat at the restaurant, and there isn't much else to do here. But to set foot in the place where evil men devised evil plans is quite humbling. And whenever I read about Hitler and the Eagle's nest it sits profoundly with me that... More

Our best tour within Europe to date! Unforgettable view and trip to the top of Hitlers famous Eagles Nest. As impressive as the view is, the history museum was an impressive place to visit. Located near to where the specially designed busses depart from there is an audio tour that ends where the underground bunkers begin. There underground bunkers are... More

If you are in the area, this is a must see! Beautiful view of the valley. Very interesting history and very appropriately done. It is only open from late spring til early fall, so make sure you check before you head up there.

Unfortunately, the tour and restaurant is closed until mid May however, we paid the 8 euros to get through the road barrier and made our way up to the top where the views were stunning on one side and misty on the other. Well worth the trip.

I'm a American/European historian and well read on the history of the place, that being said, one should know their Berchtesgaden history 'before' going. In light of its past, the location takes great effort in de-emphasizing the real history of its Third Reich years and if you didn't know much before the visit, you won't learn much today. All of... If you are a history fanatic, such as my husband, this is a must-visit attraction. If you are not that interested by history, it is nice to go along just for the magnificent views alone.

Great view, definitely worth of visiting. It's also so amazing that in those days they could built so quickly in so difficult milieu. The history with Hitler is a bit creepy. Kävimme syksyllä ja ilma sattui olemaan kuulas ja raikas, joten maisemat avautuivat henkeäsalpaavan kauniina. Juuri maisemien takia paikka on hieno, varsinainen historia Hitlerin mökkinä on jotenkin selkäpiirtä karmiva.

An amazing bus ride from Salzburg to the drop off point near Bechtesgaden. An extraordinary switchback ride up the mountain (on the special tour bus). A ride up in an elevator that was used by Hitler (a couple of times at least) Stunning views of the area around the Eagle's Nest. Wonderful to walk about, look about, hike a bit.... More

Built by Martin Bormann as a Present for Adolf Hitler, the cost is incalculable in modern money. Shows how much Bormann knew, Hitler was frightened of heights and seldom visited this spot, its main claim to fame was in 1944 when Gretl Braun and Obergrupennfuhrer Herrmann Fegelein held their Wedding Reception there. The panelled room is sometimes referred to as... More
