As a big fan of history and museums, I really enjoyed this! The paths are graveled and a lot of up and down, so good sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are a must! Could have spent more time here! You could get the highlights by doing it in a couple hours, and rushing through it, but why would you want to?

This is a wonderful museum which allows you to take a journey through Bavarian social history. There are 63 building ranging from farmers house to mills. Many houses are furnished in the age they were last lived in e.g. The 1950s. All of the buildings have been painstakingly taken down from their original location and re-built. It has been well... Good: Museum was all outside and it was well laid out, with excellent views. Everything was translated into English. Bad: Fairly costly for what was a fairly short (and boring) visit to this museum. The most interesting parts were the enormous fish in the pond, the water mills, and the lovely lady who told us all about her work with... More

You can spend an entire day here. Where good walking shoes and take lots of pictures. There are many buildings from various eras and all are carefully and accurately recreated. If you are not up for a good long walk, skip this, otherwise it is worth the trip and the exhaustion.

The Freilchtmuseum Glenleiten provides an excellent overview of rural life in Upper Bavaria. Contained on the outdoor museum's grounds are a wide range of homes, barns, and light industry that were moved to the grounds over the last couple of decades and then preserved. Homes (many with the barns/stables attached) are well preserved or renovated and almost all contain representative... More

A fantastic day for the whole family. If you are thinking how the people worked and lived in the past, the answer is life in this village. Many homes with its all facilities and furniture. All the old workshops are there. My kids learned a lot about the power of water and wind. Baby strollers are not possible because of... More

It was interesting to see a village frozen in time. They had demonstrations throughout the day of various skills. There are paths but they were rutted after heavy rain so I would be careful about taking a stroller to some portions of the trail.

The correct spelling of the name is 'Freilichtmuseum Glentleiten' this is important when your entering it into the GPS unit. The Glentleiten Open Air Museum is was very interesting. Seeing how people of different classes lived everyday life. The tools, buildings, and furniture were very interesting. Many original buildings have been moved from their original location to the meuseum grounds.... More

the open air museum was very interesting place to visit. Especially recommended for families with children. Recommended route is supposed to take 2.5 hours but if you want to visit all houses then more is required (probably 4 hours). They provide maps but unfortunately the numbers mentioned in them do not match the numbers on the houses so it's a... More
