We spent over 3 hours walking through the exhibits and grounds here. Martin Luther stayed here waiting for results of the Augsburg Council and communicated with Melancthon who was representing him there. We stood in the rooms where he stayed and saw a handwritten letter...More

Veste Coburg is everything we love about Germany: a hearty walk (or charming ride) followed by a gorgeous view, compelling history, and of course a wonderful café. We were here for a long weekend and went up every day. Don't miss it.

We came here as part of a Luther- Reformation tour. The Luther exhibit was good, as were the other exhibits. But what really made it was the castle itself, with all sort of cool hidden spots, arches, and courtyards. It also commands a great view...More

Spent the afternoon here and visited the temporary Luther exhibition, which is quite good, as well as the art collections and historic rooms. Aside from the spectacular location itself, full of sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, the castle has several intriguing and unique things...More

We took the 5 bus up from the town, and subsequently walked leisurely through the glorious parkland back to Coburg centre. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to go to any of the exhibitions, but in any event it was too nice a day to...More

Feste Coburg is worth visiting in any case, but the current special exhibition, which runs into November, makes the attraction all the more attractive. "Knights, Farmers, and Lutherans" is a comprehensive and fair-minded examination of economic, political, social and above all religious history. Although the...More

We visited the exhibition "Martin Luther, farmers and Lutherans". It takes more than 3 hours to see most of the exhibits. Specifically interesting are the old documents and handwritten small books with paintings. One can enter the room and see the table where Luther translated...More

I was on a trip to Germany with my college-aged children, and I wanted to make sure we were able to spend some time at one of the larger castles. I picked Coburg, as the reviews spoke highly about the armor display in particular. This...More

Not only well worth your time, most of the staff are incredible! We were there with a few people who needed more time and the staff inside the exhibition were kind enough to guide us to each other! The ticket counter staff were very kind,...More

Looming large above the town of Coburg and it's environs, Veste Coburg is a really well preserved castle that ably demonstrates the evolution of a fortification from early medieval times right through to the 30 Years War. When we visited there was also an extensive...More
