It was the city residence of the dukes of Coburg from 1547 to 1918. Splendid chambers, the living rooms of Queen Victoria, the large hall, Gobelin room, red room, throne room, palace chapel, royal living rooms with precious furniture, and numerous portraits portray the impressive family connections of the Coburg dukes.

The residence of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha family situated in the lovely town of Coburg is worthwhile a visit without any doubt. The connections with British, Portuguese and many others royal families are explained at the entrance but the great highlight is the huge and fantastic Giants Room. Pay attention, the visit is necessarily made on a tour (one hour) with a... More

We were there on Min. All museums, castle...etc. were closed. But it's winter with snow. White scenery is always great! Check the pictures I uploaded.

The visit of this town castle -Buckingham style is by tour only. It costs 4 euros and starts on the hour. Be on time. The tour was in Gernan only and was suprisingly very enjoyable. The rooms are well preserved and give a good impression of the life of a royal/ noble family in 18.19th century. The direct connection to... More

This was a guided tour in German. There is a small translated pamphlet in different languages. The tour guide was very knowledgable about the residence, the restoration of it and gave some funny anecdotes about the way of life. About an hour and 1/2 long tour. Worth its money! For older people be aware that you will have to go... More

This is a beautiful place to look around especially if you're interested in the history of our monarchy and their connection to the Coburg's! No English tours but they'll give you a handout and you can just laugh when everyone else does!

You have to have the guided tour, you cant go round on your own- due to locking, lighting and so on. Tours every hour on the hour. I was the only one on my tour, and the guide spoke close to perfect (american) english. She knew all the historyt of the palace, and was able to relate it all back... More

What an outstanding treasure! We followed behind the German language tour with a young man who spoke very good English. In a sense, it was like having a private tour of the palace. Incredible that so much of what is seen is original to the palace. The tour was about an hour long and unlike some of the other palaces... More

I was there on a weekday and had my own private tour. If all you speak is English you'll get a nice hand out with all the interesting information, if you're German you're good to go. The place is amazing, the Hall of Giants is beyond pictures. There is a private collection of middle age paintings that you won't see... More
