Landmark of Munich October Beer Fest

Huge area, which is reserved for Munich different festivals, particularly for October Beer Fest. You won't miss it if you come to the festival.

It is worth just to climb up the stairs. Although we went there early in the morning and could not climb up the statue unfortunately. It was also an early December morning so it seemed a bit desolate. I am sure without the construction fencing and more crowds this would be a worthy stop.

Just for the historical value... but apart from that it is not the most interesting place in Bavaria..

Perfect time to visit: a rainy summer day, shortly before closing (last climb at 17:30!). Not recommended for claustrophobic people, as it gets really low and tight high up around the neck of the monument. Otherwise: the climb is a delightful thing and gets you the inside view of things, literally. The monument looks much bigger on the inside, it... More

Does the statue seem tall from the distance? Well, it seems even taller when you are ascending the spiral staircase hidden in it. It is truly a unique experience, albeit quite hot in the huge metal case in summer yet not unbearably hot. Once on the top of the stairs, you literally sit on wonderfully forged "armchairs" in Bavaria's head.... More

The magnificient 70 tons and 18 metre bronze lady statue is said to be a symbol and guardian of Bavaria. There is a spiral staircase inside the body which leads up to a narrow viewing platform at the head of the statue for a view of the Theresiawiesen fairground where major events in Munich including the well known annual Oktoberfest... Seeing the Bavaria statue standing on her pedestal is quite impressive, she was made about 40 years before the Statue Of Liberty. She's standing next to a lion holding a laurel wreth. I was there too early so could't go up to the head. It was great to see but other people might just see it as another statue. If... More
