At Christmas, various kiosks dot the courtyard of the Isartor. While we were somewhat disappointed by the lack of snow at Christmas, we did love the look and feel of the area with all the decorations.

Located at one of the entrances into the historic old town. Isartor S-Bahn station is right below it. The historical gate used back from the time of a walled city; however, it is a little subdued compared to some of the other scenic sights in Munich.

A must see for every tourist for 3 reasons Reason # 1: It is a monumental defensive city gate, true old and a fascinating architecture. Do not miss the long-streched painting on the outer side telling the story of the "bloody night of Sendling" where 1.000 people got slaughtered in just one night. Reason # 2: The funny and fascinating... More

One of the four main gate in the old town of Munich, it looks cool and medival-ish. One of the towers host a museum of the comedian Karl Valentin and a cafe on top.

Isator is one of the City Gates and as such is interesting for architectural heritage. Its real import is the access it gives to the network of streets near the food market. OK if you are passing this way but not for a special visit

We happen to be walking and found this gem! It's large and you can take nice pictures. It can be a history lesson . It's not fancy but has been there along time.

Beautiful, historic, a must see. Contains a crazy museum, the Karl Valentin Musäum (best for German speaking people, though), which shows water in a glass, saying: snow sculpture. If you love this kind of stuff (I definitely do), go ahead! There is a wonderful old café in the tower, too. From time to time, I really need to go there,... More

The gate is impressive and an awesome relic of history of the medieval city. The vendors and the contemporary gathering for the holidays make it even better.

Very cool and interesting bit of history. Fantastic that this door to the old city still stands. We were not able to venture up inside to the exhibit, but we were able to walk around and take it all in.

A place with long history. Near to Viktualien Market and Globetrotter shop. I wouldn't say a must visit place.
