If you are coming from the central train station it is almost sure that you will pass through this place in order to go to the center of the city (Altstadt). Due to the damages of the Second World War, the buildings around it seem...More

One of five gates which were originally part of the boundary wall surrounding the medieval city. It has been altered a few times but essentially it has stood here for several hundred years. It contrasts well with the fountain in Karlsplatz.

While roaming around in the streets of Munich you will pass through this ornamental gate. Nothing great about it but nothing bad either.

Munich has several old Tors (city gates). The Karlstor is one of them. Others are the Sendlinger-, Isar en Schwabinder Tor. The Karlstor we think is the most beautiful one.
