Scenic Entrance to the Old Town

The Altes Rathaus anchors the Stone Bridge and is the best way to enter the Old Town. Be ready for pictures galore and some good gelato in the warmer weather.

I came to Regensburg on a day trip to catch a glimpse of an old capital city, a cruise along the two rivers. It's quite different from Munich with unique architecture. The river cruise is also fun especially on a bright sunny day. I took the cruise around 10:30 and came back to the pier for the famous sausages at... More

A beautiful place where you can spend some quiet time, take a walk and take some pictures. A lot of people and restaurants nearby.

Walk up the stairs and you will get to the attic. At right times, there will be no one and you can open the windows and take great pictures of the Dom and surrounding areas.

I confes that we arrived here early on a walking tour, so we did not take a tour inside, but the exterior is photogenic both from the city side and river/bridge side

It's good for a picture, but no need to spend a lot of time there. Many places in Old Europe are picturesque like this building, but, yet, each one if different. Well Maintained old building.

Beautiful building welcoming at the foot of the stone bridge. Today it has the visitor center and some shops.

This old building houses a modern vistors center that serves as a great start to the city. I highly recommed the tours of the city (multiple languages offered), books and souvenirs that are offered here. A tour of the building is given as well, but I always seem to miss the tour given in English.

Since the city was not bombed in WW2, the city as a whole is a real relic. We were unable to go into the building due to being on a walking tour with Gate 1. just the exterior is fantastic.

The Rathaus is an impressive structure on the Danube River in Regensburg. We took a city tour as part of our Viking River Cruise, but we didn't have time to go inside. We enjoyed the exterior architecture and then went to the Wurstkuchl to have a bratwurst at one of the oldest restaurants in Germany.
