Wonderful statue located close to the town square. Seemed to be a local gathering spot, there were quite a few shops, cafes, and other attractions near by. Nice photo opportunity.

This is a really interesting monument in the center of the Old City, but it has no information available beyond the limited writing in German at its base.

Our guide kept us in suspense regarding the story of his conception and years growing up which makes it all the more interesting. Read up or ask a guide!

It is a good part of a historical tour, I recommend to go there with a guide or audioguide so you can enjoy the history related properly.

Interesting statue on a charming square of the Altstadt. The statue has grace even as it follows a classical model. The statue represents the victor of the Battle of Lepanto though it is not clear why it was erected in this city.

This nobleman of centuries ago was notorious because of his doubtful ancestry, but he distinguished himself in the successful battles he fought against the Ottoman armies. The statue is therefore justified and presents the tourist with one of the countless photo stops in charming Regensburg.

Quick stop to take a photo, but make sure you read the story about this character. I probably would suggest reading up on him if you are going without a guide.
