Nothing like a day with Jeremy to spark your interest in this amazing and complex city. We could never have imagined all of the fascinating tidbits of history - especially Jewish history and how it relates to war time and modern Berlin. No trip is complete without a day with this warm, interesting and engaging man.

Jeremy was recommended to us by friends who gave him such rave reviews that we knew we'd be in good hands. We had two wonderful days with Jeremy, walking 5 hours each day. We were especially interested in sites in remembrance of the Holocaust, and Jeremy took us to each one and poignantly explained its history. Jeremy is so easy... More

We found Jeremy based on the recommendation of a colleague of my husband. When we contacted him, he was not available for the dates we requested. Not to worry, he said, referring us to one of his colleagues. So we ended up with a city-overview tour with Heather, and then a tour focused on Jewish Berlin with Jeremy. We enjoyed... More

We were only going to have a day and a half in Berlin, so wanted to make the most of our time there. Luckily I found Jeremy! We did a 4 hour walking tour with him and I can't believe how many sights we saw and how much we learned about Berlin in that time! Jeremy started by asking what... More

We wanted a small tour of Berlin and found Jeremy, the Berlin Expert through a recommendation from The Sydney Morning Herald. We spent five wonderful hours with him listening to his expert knowledge and stories of Historical Berlin.....he is a true story teller and kept us informed about the lives of Jews in Berlin, Nazi Germany, Soviet Germany and today's... Our guide to Berlin, Jeremy Minsberg, was highly recommended and proved to be the perfect guide both in his knowledge of the history and landmarks of Berlin and his easy personality. His excellent driver met us at the ship and returned us in plenty of time later in the day. Jeremy took us to the sites that were of special... More

I must say...this tour and Jeremy were a pleasant surprise! I was traveling through Berlin, for a short business trip from the US. I found Jeremy's ad and all the great reviews on Trip Advisor. I took an educated risk as I was traveling solo, yet wanted a focused "walking" tour on World War I and II historical sites, Jewish... More

Jeremy gave us a great overview of the city and its history. He really made the city come alive and was very sensitive in dealing with such difficult historical issues. We were very happy with the tour and had a great day.

We were looking for a private guide to see Berlin and especially Jewish Berlin, and Jeremy more than fit the bill. It was very easy to arrange the visit via email. http://www.theberlinexpert.com Jeremy does not set an hourly rate for his time but works on a recommended range of tips. We spent a very full 6 hours under his guidance,... More

We spent a full day of touring with Jeremy in Berlin. He was OUTSTANDING ! Extremely passionate, knowledgeable and very accomplished. In his own words " he is a story teller" rather than a historian who just 'spits' out historical dates and events. The way he communicated history was in a way that made one want to listen and listen... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
