This is a pleasant stop off if you are on the Yellow Bus tour. The 6th floor is food paradise with tea bars, coffee bars, pastry, fish, oriental food bars. The coffee bar was very good and not expensive. The food hall is worth a visit but I would recommend using is as a stop off on the bus tour... More

The second largest department store in Europe, founded by a Jewish family and one of West Berlin's symbols for wealth. The first 5 floors mainly consist of beauty accessories and luxury brands. Unless you are an oligarch, avoid those floors and take the elevator straight to the 6th floor and enjoy delicatessen from all over the world.

The foodhall on the 6th floor is one of the best I've ever seen in a large department store. The building is located adjacent to Wittenberg Platz and not far from Kurfürstendamm both of which are served by the UBahn. There are a few places in the foodhall where you can get cooked food and each one is themed around... More

I'm male, and tend to only enjoy shops that sell books, tools or boats. Nevertheless, you should visit KaDeWE if you're nearby......after all, you don't have to buy anything. I actually enjoyed the household floor. It's immense, covering a whole block and six storeys. I enjoyed the watch concessions on the ground floor, but go to the sixth just to... More

KaDeWe was a wonderful place for us to do some shopping when we had half a day at our disposal. Lots of eateries as well catering to different cuisines and one catering to the entire range of cheese as well!

Myself and my husband visited here when on our 'minimoon' in Berlin. Having arrived early to Berlin we left our bags at the hotel and visited KaDeWe for brunch. The food hall is on the 6th floor (with a restaurant/buffet on the 7th floor). We chose to eat at one of the small outlets on the 6th floor and chose... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
